Sticks on Fire

Yup.
Actually, I'm very excited about this plant. I'd had it on my wish list and finally purchased one. I might nestle it with my slipper plant that's planted in the front garden. I just noticed that both plants are members of the Euphorbiaceae family, and both are hardy to Zone 9A (20F). I wonder if I should risk it and plant the sticks on fire... There are a couple microclimates on my property that stay warmer than others. Thoughts?

  1. That's interesting looking. I clicked to see your slipper plant but it's not there.

  2. Nope, no picture of the slipper plant yet. It doesn't photograph well, and I tried. I think it's just too small and narrow to really show up well in a pic. The pics on Dave's Garden look better.

  3. If it were me, I think I'd consider nestling it in while in the pot. Then you could move it quick if you had to. Just my thoughts on it. I mix containers with plantings in the ground for interest and to guide the eye a bit.

  4. I say you should take the chance, it grows in
Arizona where the night time can be very cool
    in temperatures. Go for it!

  5. We had those at our nursery last year. They won't work outside here in NC as it's too cold. It is very interesting.
