Spicy Aloe Bloom

Due to the winter being so mild, the aloes are getting a chance to bloom rather than trying to recover from the stress of cold, and I'm lovin' the chandelier effect of their blooms.  It's just too bad there aren't hummingbirds around to gather the nectar.

    1. They really are lovely! They look very tropical to me, and I wish I had the species name on this one.

  3. Cheryl at Conscious Gardening here in Austin says she's had an overwintering hummer two winters in a row. I haven't seen one in my garden, but maybe hers will come visit our blooming aloes.

    1. It's rare I see a hummingbird around here, so I won't complain if the aloe manages to attract one.
