Last summer I scattered about 3/4lb of bluebonnet seeds that I had left over from the previous year. I'd done it in a slight bit of a "BAH! GET THIS DONE AND OUT OF HERE!" sort of way, and now the bluebonnets are takin' over!
I think I might be breaking personal records of bluebonnet seed harvest this spring. Maybe I'll get 2 lbs? Mysteries abound!
I am so jealous! they simply will not grow here. I have tried and tried and tried yet again. I love them, I long for them, and I can't have them. I am officially counting on you to provide lots of photos this spring. thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI guess you're lucky that they're in the lupinus genus which means you can at least grow something similar that I doubtfully could grow! I'll do my best to take gobs of photos. ;)
DeleteThat must be so beautiful!!! I hope you do get two pounds!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll take bigger shots once there are more blooms.
DeleteHow exciting! I have precisely one bluebonnet plant with no blossoms. I do have larkspur popping up everywhere, though.
ReplyDeleteI think the first time we managed bluebonnets, we had like 10 plants after scattering 4-5 packets of seed, and ever since, we've gotten more and more.
DeleteI don't have any larkspur, but it's on my list! I need to expand beyond bluebonnets and a get more wildflower variety in this yard.
