Rainsday

It's been a gloomy, rainy day, which means enthusiasm for writing is low, so I took a few pictures.

This is 'Georgia' collards which I planted in the formerly very tropical galvanized steel stock tank:

The stock tank now has collards, leeks, fennel, pansies, snapdragons, petunias, and dusty miller.  Underneath these plants there is an assortment of bulbs such as anemone, daffodils, and tulips, and a few naughty daffodils are coming up a bit early.

And speaking of pansies, this one almost seems to be crying with how the drops settled:

The bluebonnets are also sneaking up and around the place:

I guess it's quite obvious now that I definitely didn't collect all the bluebonnet seeds.

Hopefully, the weather will clear up a bit.  My mom got 6" of snow at her place, but she got it on Christmas.  I picked the wrong holiday to go visit.  Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

  1. I love the idea of planting in a stock tank. Please show it to us some day and tell us a bit about it. Did you punch holes in the bottom? or is drainage not a problem given your rain level? Gotta think about this for a while and see if there is a "Virginia way" I can steal the idea...
