I'm alive! I swear!

Gosh, it's been forever since I've had a chance to sit down and write an entry. The "wedding" weekend went well. Everything was beautiful and there were no melt-down's. I'll probably be posting more about this as things come to mind and I get photos and stuff. This past month has flown by it seems like. The 2 weeks leading up to the wedding were busy with prep and seeing people. I don't recall anything particularly momentous to comment on.

The BBQ was fun and silly and non-serious. My sister, brother-in-law, brother, and sister-in-law did a GREAT job! I can't believe my brother and sister-in-law packed up so much decor for the BBQ to bring with them from Germany. They brought over steins, banners, and all sorts. We all drank a lot of beer, and my SO and I wore our totally awesome hats. His hat got finished that day, and even though I made it, I have to say it was fab. Totally hysterical! I need to get some pictures of it.

The "wedding" was fun. The photographer came over to the house to take pictures of us galloping and smooching around the yard which is surrounded by woods and has a pond and all sorts. Good stuff. The ceremony went well - everyone appreciated the brevity of it and people commented that it was the first time they'd ever paid attention to vows. My sister said, "Your vows... They were very you." lol. Dinner was great. Lots of booze. I somehow only had 1 and 1/2 glasses of wine for the entire night. I guzzled water cos I was a dancing fool! Karaoke was a real hit, and lots of people commented on how they wanted karaoke for their wedding. I was honestly not too sure about it being a hit, but everyone really got into it. My SO and I did "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison where I sang everything but the Sha-la-la's and my SO only sang the Sha-la-la's. The flowers were AMAZING! Those I'll definitely have to post. They really did look like a small clump of fairy forest transposed on the table.

The brunch was also great, and that's where I made up on the drinking. It turns out that I really like the champagne which is something I never really cared for before. The food was 50s themed down to beef-cream cheese wrapped pickles.

I think everyone had a really good time. People who didn't come missed out on a pretty awesome party. I'm impressed people traveled from so far. I had one friend hop in a car Friday morning and drive down from West Virginia, slept in the car, went to the wedding and reception, and drove back to West Virginia that night. What a trooper.

Our "honeymoon" was largely hanging out, tripping out to NC, and buying lots of plants. Holy cow I got some plants. Those I definitely need to photograph and put up. Some are quite outrageous. There's a nursery in Soddy Daisy, TN called Old Man Cactus which largely sells online, but we managed to go there with an appt to look at plants (and buy them) in person. That was an unexpected gem. Very friendly people, and the plants were amazing. Very cool. My SO went to one nursery on his own and bought a bunch of pitcher plants and a couple daylilies, and we went to another nursery together that just happened to be having an open house that very weekend we were there. The name escapes me right now, but wow... they had such diverse and wonderful plants. A few of them had scales, but scale doesn't bother me too much. I accidentally stuck a $100 plant in our cart before realizing, "HOLY CRAP! IT'S $100!!!" I knew why it was $100, but at that moment I wasn't expecting that out of myself. I put it back. It was a bit tricky getting all those plants back to TX. We packed both of our cars full. I only got back last night at 10:45 PM after a 16.5 hour drive. BLARGH!!!!

Anyway, it's done. Things can start getting back to normalish around here. Of course, it would be nice if it was suddenly October so I could start planting again...
